Indonesian Migrant Workers Benefit
Employment Injury Security is a protection program with benefits in the form of health services, and care or treatment for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) who suffer from accidents before, during, and after work, including accidents that occur on the way to or from workplace.
Benefits of Employment Injury Security before and after work:
- Care and treatment when suffering an occupational accident or being proven to have suffered acts of physical violence and/or rape.
- Assistance and vocational training when suffering disability due to occupational accidents.
- Compensation in the form of cash, including:
- Transportation reimbursement for participants from or to a hospital for PMI who suffers from an occupational accident.
- Cash compensation paid at once when a participant suffers permanent total disability due to an occupational accident.
- Rehabilitation costs, for the purchase of aids (orthoses) and/or replacement equipment (protheses).
- Denture reimbursement.
- Educational or job training scholarships for 2 children of participant and will be given when the participant suffers permanent total disability or dies due to an occupational accident.
- Disability compensation.
- Death Compensation.
Benefits of Employment Injury Security during working period:
- Follow-up care and treatment in Indonesia, given to participants who suffer from occupation accidents or are proven to have suffered acts of physical violence and/or rape in the country of placement.
- Compensation for participants who fail to work in the country of placement.
- Assistance and skill training in accordance with interests and vacancies in Indonesia for participants who suffer from disabilities due to occupational accidents.
- Compensation in the form of cash, for:
- Transportation reimbursement for participants who suffer from an occupational accident from or to a hospital in the country of placement destination.
- Cash compensation, to be paid at once when the participant suffers permanent total disability due to an occupational accident.
- Rehabilitation costs, for the purchase of aids (orthoses) and/or replacement equipment (protheses).
- Educational or job training scholarships for 2 children of participant and will be given when the participant suffers permanent total disability or dies due to an occupational accident.
- Disability compensation.
- Death Compensation.
- Care and treatment in accordance with medical needs for Indonesian Migrant Workers who suffer occupational accidents or are proven to have suffered acts of physical violence and/or rape, to:
- Basic and diagnostic support examination.
- First level to intensive care.
- Inpatient class 1 at Public Hospital, Regional Public Hospital, or Private Hospital at an equivalent cost.
- Handling of comorbidities and complications related to occupational accidents or occupational diseases.
- Special and blood services.
- Medical devices and implants.
- Doctor or medical services.
- Operation.
- Medical rehabilitation.
- Transportation reimbursement from or to the participant's house who suffers an occupational accident, for:
- Land, river, and/or lake transportation a maximum of IDR1,000,000
- Sea transportation a maximum of IDR 1,500,000
- Air transportation a maximum of IDR 2,500,000
- If a participant uses more than 1 transportation, the participant is entitled to a maximum cost of each transportation used.
- Disability Cash Compensation, for:
- Partial anatomical disability, by calculating the percentage according to the disability table multiplied by IDR 142,000,000.
- Partial function disability, by calculating the percentage of reduced function times the percentage according to the disability table multiplied by IDR 142,000,000.
- Permanent total disability, by calculating IDR 100,000,000
- Death compensation, in the amount of IDR 85,000,000 caused by occupational accidents.
- Permanent Total Disability Compensation, in the amount of IDR 4,800,000, paid at once.
- Rehabilitation costs, for the purchase of orthoses and/or prostheses for participants with disabilities due to occupational accidents. Each case fee is calculated from the amount determined by the Public General Hospital Rehabilitation Center plus 40% of the price, plus medical rehabilitation costs.
- Denture Reimbursement with a maximum of IDR 3,000,000
- Scholarship for education or job training, for a maximum of 2 children of participants. The scholarship will be given if the participant suffers permanent total disability or dies due to an occupational accident. The scholarship will be paid annually, subject to the following conditions:
- Scholarship payments will be made on an annual basis.
- The scholarship amount will be divided based on education level, for:
- Kindergarten/Elementary education/equivalent in the amount of IDR 1,200,000/person/year.
- Junior high school education/equivalent in the amount of IDR 1,800,000/ person/year.
- High school education/equivalent in the amount of IDR 2,400,000/ person/year.
- Higher education or job training in the amount of IDR 3,000,000/person/year.
- The scholarship ends when the participant's child reaches the age of 23 or is married or works.
- The scholarship back payment can still be given, for the previous year and the current year.
Death Security is a protection program with cash benefits given to heirs when the participant dies, NOT due to occupational accidents or occupational diseases.
The benefits of JKM are in the form of periodic compensation, funeral cost, and scholarships for children's education.
Protection Program Period for JKM:
In addition to protection, individual PMI participants will receive protection from 1 month after registration and payment of dues until the participant leaves for the country of placement destination.
Benefits of JKM for the period before or after work:
Compensation in the form of cash will be given to participants who die NOT due to occupational accidents that occur before or after work, for:
- Periodic compensation, in the amount of IDR 4,800,000 to be paid at once.
- Funeral costs, in the amount of IDR 3,000,000.
- Death compensation, in the amount of IDR 16,200,000.
Benefits of JKM during working period:
Compensation in the form of cash will be given to participants who die NOT due to occupational accidents that occur during a working period, for:
- Periodic compensation, funeral expenses, and death compensation, in the amount of IDR 85,000,000.
- Education or job training scholarships, for 2 children of the participant. Scholarships will be given if the participant dies NOT due to an occupational accident. The scholarship will be paid annually, subject to the following conditions:
- Scholarship payments will be made on an annual basis.
- The scholarship amount will be divided based on education level, for:

Protection Program Period for JKM:
In addition to protection, individual PMI participants will receive protection from 1 month after registration and payment of dues until the participant leaves for the country of placement destination.
Old Age Security is a protection program with benefits in the form of cash when a participant has reached a retirement period, suffers permanent total disability, or dies.
The benefits of JHT are in the form of cash, the amount of which is calculated from the accumulation of all contributions already paid by workers and companies, plus the results of JHT development.
Disbursement of benefits in the form of cash can be done:
- In whole,, when the participant fulfills any of the following requirements:
- Already reached the age of 56 years.
- Not actively working anywhere, for reasons of resignation or dismissal.
- Leaving Indonesian territory forever.
- Suffering from permanent total disability.
- Passes away.
- In part, in the amount of:
- A maximum of 10%, when the participant reaches the retirement period preparation.
- A maximum of 30%, when the participant takes a house ownership (can only be taken once, and only valid if the participant has a membership period of not less than 10 years).
In addition to the benefits of the JKK, JKM, and JHT programs above, PMI participants also receive special benefits in accordance with the provisions contained in the Regulation of the Minister of Manpower Number 18 of 2018, as follows:
- Failed to leave, which is not the fault of PMI candidates.
- Failed to be placed, which is not the fault of PMI.
- Losses due to the actions of other parties, during the repatriation journey to the area of origin.
- Dismissal due to occupational accidents, unless PMI passes away.
- Transportation reimbursement, for the repatriation of PMI who suffers an occupational accident from the country of placement destination to Indonesia, unless he/she passes away.
- Repatriation reimbursement, for PMI who have problems.
